Mark 1:16-20

As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed Him.

When He had gone a little farther, He saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. Without delay He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed Him.

I love the wording Mark uses here. He writes that Jesus will SEND THEM OUT to fish for men. I think a lot of Christians are going by a different approach. They think, hey, if I can lure them in I will catch them. We have to have nice buildings, great music, dynamic preaching, awesome kids ministries, great programs, etc…if we have these things we can lure them and catch them. Jesus never said wait for the people to come to you…He said He will send them OUT to fish for men. As a disciple…we must go to the people and stop waiting to let something entice them. Go to your friends, family, co-workers and share the Gospel. Sure you can have all of those other things…but they should be tools used to worship God. We should be the tool used to share the Gospel.
