Again, it is like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted them with his wealth. To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags of gold, and another one bag of gold, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. The man who received five bags went at once and put his money to work and gained five more. So also, the one with two bags gained two more. But the man who was given one bag went and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.
After a long time the master returned and settled accounts with them. The man who received five bags brought the other five. The man said you entrusted me with five bags, see, I have gained five more.
The man with two bags came and said you entrusted me with two bags, see, I have gained two more.
The master said well done good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share my happiness!
The master said well done good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share my happiness!
Then the man with one bag came. He said I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not down and gathering where you have not scattered seed. I was afraid so I went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.
The master said you wicked, lazy servant! You knew that I harvest where I haven’t sown and gather where I haven’t scattered. Well then, you should have put my money in the bank on deposit with bankers, so that when I return I would have received it back with interest.
Take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who gained five. For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they do have, will be taken from them. And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Again, Jesus uses a parable to explain the last days. He emphasizes that He isn’t searching for a lazy follower. Someone who has been given salvation and grace, and just sits on it and does nothing with it. No, He is looking for a follower who will use that to not only enhance their relationship with Him, but also to share it with others. To gain disciples as you disciple others. We must bear fruit. If we aren’t bearing fruit we will be cut off like the servant with the one bag. Get to work! We aren’t meant to just sit in a pew each week and then go about our own way. We must serve Him with our whole life! Start making disciples by being a disciple yourself.
