Jesus said that the Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that is hidden in a field. When a man finds this treasure, he hides it again, and then goes and sells everything that he has and buy the field joyfully.
He says it is also like a merchant who is looking for fine pearls. When he finds some of great value, he will go and sell all that he has and then go buy the pearls.
What Jesus is explaining here is the idea that when we find salvation in God…nothing else can compare. No possessions or money, no status or fame, etc. can measure up to what God can offer. When you find Jesus, you’re willing to lose everything in order to have Him. This is an incredible thought. But I ask, are you that willing? What is it that you would be willing to give up for Jesus? Could it be that maybe we aren’t as committed as we believe we are? When you find that kind of treasure or pearl, you will lose everything in order to have it. Jesus gave up His own life for you…what are you willing to put aside for Him?
