When Jesus enters Peter’s home, He finds Peter’s mother-in-law in bed with a fever. So Jesus touches her hand and heals her. She immediately gets up and begins waiting on them. Thought: What’s your first reaction when Jesus shows up for you?
In fact, that entire evening Jesus healed the sick and drove out demons. He did this to fulfill Isaiah’s prophecy:
“Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.”
Isaiah 53:4
The thought today is what I asked above. When Jesus shows up for you, how do you react? Peter’s mother-in-law immediately began to serve Him. How about you? Do we just expect Him to show up? Do we even acknowledge when He does? Pursue God today with gratitude and a cheerful heart. It’s the least we can do.
