When Jesus heard John had been put in prison, he left Nazareth and lived in Capernaum. This fulfilled the prophecy that Isaiah wrote about:
“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles-the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light had dawned.” (Isaiah 9:1-2)
Jesus began preaching a message that was short and to the point. “Repent, for the Kingdom of God has come near.”
Because of Jesus…the Kingdom of God reigns on earth. Because of Jesus, we have hope of being part of that Kingdom for all of eternity. We must repent of our ways and desires of the world and fix our eyes on the things above. We must turn from our wicked ways, because if we don’t, there will be no salvation for us.
